HAZARDOUS AREA CABLE GLANDS
CABLE CLANDS FOR USE IN POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES
In electrical engineering, a hazardous area is defined as a place where concentrations of flammable gases, vapors, or dusts occur. Electrical equipment installed in such locations is especially designed and tested to ensure it does not initiate an explosion due to arcing contacts or high surface temperature of equipment. With regard cable glands, these generally fall into 2 protection methods: Increased Safety (Ex e) or Flameproof (Ex d)
Increased safety Exe
A method of protection whereby additional measures are applied to provide increased security against the the possibility of escessive temperatures and of the occurance of arcs and sparks in normal service, or under specifiedfault conditions. With regard cable glands, this generally requires the anchoring of cables and the prevention of water ingress into the equipment
Flameproof Exd
A method of protection in which part that can ignite an explosive atmosphere are placed within an enclosure that can withstand the pressure produced during an explosion, and which prevents transmission of that explosion to the possibly expolsive atmosphere surrounding the enclosure. With regard cable glands, this functionality is achieved primarily through specially designed threads, barrier (compound) seals or inner diaphragm, displacement or compression type seals.
EXPLORE THE RANGE
E-OCTANS
Single compression for non-armoured cables (exd/Exe) Extended sealing range
-
Triple seal design for extended sealing range & user flexibility
-
Exd elastomeric seal on cable outer sheath
-
Rounded backnut to prevent cable damage
-
Integral Silicone O-Ring
-
May be used with braided cables where the braid and outer shesth pass into the enclosure
-
-60°C to +140°C
CENTAURUS-N
Barrier gland for non-armoured cables (Exd/Exe)
-
Provides a barrier seal between the individual insulated cores within the cable and prevents entry of the products of an explosion into the cable.
-
Assembly of the cable gland compresses and distributes the compound evenly to effect a barrier seal at the point of entry into the enclosure.
-
Integral silicone O-Ring
-
-60°C to +100°C
ORION LEAD SHEATH
Double compression for armoured cables with lead inner sheath (Exd/Exe)
-
Armour clamping for all armour types - single wire armour ‘W’, wire braid ‘X’ and steel tape armour ‘Z’ elastomer and plastic insulated cables with lead covered inner sheaths.
-
Provides a seal and an electrical bond on the cables lead inner sheath.
CENTAURUS-A
Barrier gland for armoured cables (Exd/Exe)
-
Provides a barrier seal between the individual insulated cores within the cable and prevents entry of the products of an explosion into the cable.
-
Assembly of the cable gland compresses and distributes the compound evenly to effect a barrier seal at the point of entry into the enclosure.
-
Integral silicone O-Ring
-
-60°C to +100°C
